As is the case with many of you, we are proud Americans who believe in the goodness of our country. We believe in the principles adhered to by our founding fathers as they formed a new nation governed by an inspired Constitution.
We have become concerned over the past several years that our government has continued to drift from those founding principles that have made our nation great. It now seems that our country is at a crossroads and the future of our nation depends on the decisions being made by our elected representatives today. No time in history has been more critical than the present in determining how brightly the beacon of freedom will shine in the future.
In 1968 a great statesman by the name of Ezra Taft Benson, Secretary of Agriculture in the Eisenhower administration authored an explanation of how the founders envisioned government in a free rebuplic such as ours. His essay, entitled The Proper Role of Government has become a definitive explanation of the functions and restrictions of our American government.
We encourage you to follow the link below to view Secretary Benson's writings.

I AM SO HAPPY THAT I FOUND THIS WEBSITE! My husband and I are very patriotic, and very concerned about the way our country is being lead. We love Benson's teachings on Government, and respect him and his beliefs a great deal.
ReplyDeleteWe love this country, and are frequently signing petitions, calling congressmen, and go to peaceful rally's, but it is not enough.
I fear that life is too busy, and I need to spend a little less time, somewhere less important... to make more time to do more for my country and countrymen.
I hope you will continue your blog; I'm sure you continue your efforts.
God bless you! And thank you! :D
There are 4 incidents related to my country that have rocked my world.
ReplyDeleteFirst, was the assasination of John F. Kennedy. I was 5 years old and my mother had to explain to me that there were bad people in the world who killed him.
The assisination of Martin Luther King - I came to understand more about the equal rights movement. Having grown up in a small mostly white community, I had no idea that others were discriminated against (and murdered) because of their skin color -
On Sept. 11, 2001, I was in Washington DC. Once again the unthinkable happened and I learned that people wanted to kill us and others based on religious beliefs.
And on March 22, 2010, I woke to a different America than I had awakend to on March 21st, when our government passed bill using bullying techniques I saw in the Godfather! I came to understand that the government I HOPED had our best interest in mind didn't care.
The first three incidents exposed me to evil based on political views, discrimination and religious beliefs. This lends a whole new light where the greatest country in history is being destroyed because of the desire of a few for and power and money. This has been the most horrific of all.
